1. UKULUNGISELELA UKUQALA KWENYANGA YAMANDLA

Ascension Day:
Ascension Day is a key moment in the Christian calendar, commemorating the significant event when Jesus Christ, following His resurrection, ascended into heaven before the eyes of His disciples. This moment as recounted in Acts 1: 9-11 holds profound meaning for us as believers: It confirms the divine nature and authority of Jesus as the Son of God, solidifying His triumph over sin and death. The Ascension precedes Pentecost, where Jesus promised the empowerment of the Holy Spirit upon His disciples for their mission. Furthermore, the message of the angels assures believers of Christ’s eventual return, emphasising the anticipation of His Second Coming.

Matthew 24:42-44 encourages us as believers to “keep watch” and live in readiness for His return. This day prompts reflection on the imminent kingdom of God, urging us as believers to live with continuous and prayerful expectations.

Usuku Lokwenyuka:
Usuku Lokwenyuka luyisikhathi esibalulekile ekhalendeni yobuKristu. Ngalolusuku sikhumbula isenzakalo esibalulekile lapho uJesu Kristu, ngemuva kokuvuka Kwakhe, enyukela ezulwini phambi kwamehlo abafundi bakhe. Lesi sikhathi njengoba kulandiswa encwadini ye-Zenzo 1:9-11 sinencazelo ejulile kithi njengamakholwa: Siqinisekisa ubunjalo bukaJesu negunya njengeNdodana kaNkulunkulu, siqinisekisa ukunqoba Kwakhe phezu kwesono nokufa. Ukwenyuka kwandulela iPhentekoste, lapho uJesu athembisa ukunika amandla kaMoya oNgcwele phezu kwabafundi Bakhe ngomsebenzi wabo. Ngaphezu kwalokho, umlayezo wezingelosi uqinisekisa amakholwa ngokubuya kukaKristu ekugcineni. Ugcizelela ukulindela ukuBuya Kwakhe Kwesibili.

UMathewu 24:42-44 uyasikhuthaza njengamakholwa ukuba “sihlale silindile” futhi siphile ngokulungela ukubuya Kwakhe. Lolu suku lukhuthaza ukuzindla ngombuso kaNkulunkulu osemnyango, lusinxusa njengamakholwa ukuba siphile ngokuqhubekayo nokulindelekile ngomthandazo.

Pentecost:
Pentecost holds profound significance in the Christian faith, marking the moment when the Holy Spirit descended upon the early followers of Jesus, as reported in Acts 2. Derived from the Greek word “pentēkostē,” meaning “fiftieth,” Pentecost occurred fifty days after Easter Sunday. On this momentous day, the Holy Spirit manifested as tongues of fire, empowering the disciples for ministry, fulfilling Jesus’ promise in Acts 1: 4-5 and 2: 1-4. Pentecost is hailed as the birth of the Christian Church, launching its mission to share the Gospel globally.

This event fulfils Old Testament prophecies, notably Joel 2: 28-32, ushering in a new era of God’s redemptive work through the Holy Spirit. Pentecost also symbolises the Church’s unity amidst diversity, transcending cultural barriers by the power of the Holy Spirit. Central to Pentecost is the empowerment of believers by the Holy Spirit, enabling them to boldly proclaim the Gospel and demonstrate God’s power through spiritual gifts. As Pentecostal Christians, we believe in the ongoing work of the Holy Spirit, empowering believers for Christian living and dynamic worship.

As we approach Pentecost Sunday, I urge you to seek a deeper encounter with the Holy Spirit for personal growth and ministry. Let us embrace the power of Pentecost – the Holy Spirit, to be effective witnesses for Christ in our communities and beyond (Acts 1:8).

IPhentekoste:
IPhentekoste linokubaluleka okujulile enkolweni yobuKristu. Liphawula isikhathi lapho uMoya oNgcwele wehlela phezu kwabalandeli bakaJesu bokuqala, njengoba kubikiwe kuzEnzo 2. Lisuselwa egameni lesiGreki elithi “pentēkostē,” elisho “amashumi amahlanu,” iPhentekoste lenzeka ezinsukwini ezingamashumi amahlanu ngemva kwePhasika. NgeSonto. Ngalolu suku olubalulekile, uMoya oNgcwele wabonakala kungathi izilimi zomlilo, enika abafundi amandla enkonzweni, egcwalisa isithembiso sikaJesu kuZenzo 1: 4-5 naku-2: 1-4. IPhentekoste lihlonishwa njengokuzalwa kweBandla lamaKrestu, lethula umsebenzi walo wokusabalalisa iVangeli emhlabeni jikelele.

Lesi senzakalo sigcwalisa iziprofetho zeTestamente Elidala, ikakhulukazi uJoweli 2: 28-32, ongenisa isinkathi esisha somsebenzi kaNkulunkulu wokuhlenga ngoMoya oNgcwele. IPhentekoste futhi lifanekisela ubunye beBandla phakathi kokwehlukahlukana, ngale kwemigoqo yamasiko ngamandla kaMoya oNgcwele. Okubalulekile ngePhentekoste ukunikwa amandla amakholwa ngoMoya oNgcwele, okubenza bakwazi ukumemezela iVangeli ngesibindi futhi babonise amandla kaNkulunkulu ngezipho zikaMoya. Njengamakholwa eNkonzo kaMoya, siyakholelwa emsebenzini oqhubekayo kaMoya oNgcwele, ukunika amakholwa amandla okuphila kobuKristu nokukhonza okunamandla.

Njengoba sisondela eSontweni le-Phentekoste, ngiyakunxusa ukuba sifune ukuhlangana okujulile noMoya oNgcwele ukuze futhi sikhule emoyeni nasenkonzweni yokumsebenzela uNkulunkul. Masibambe amandla ePentekoste – uMoya oNgcwele, ukuba sibe ofakazi abaphumelelayo bakaKristu emiphakathini yethu nangale kwayo (IZenzo 1:8).

Mother’s Day:
Mother’s Day, celebrated annually (Sunday, 12 May 2024), holds deep significance from a Christian perspective as a time to honour and appreciate the sacrificial love and nurturing spirit of mothers.

In Proverbs 31: 25-31, the Bible commends the virtues of a godly woman, highlighting her strength, wisdom, and kindness. Mothers reflect the nurturing and caring nature of God, who is often likened to a mother caring for her children (Isaiah 66:13). Just as God tenderly watches over His children, mothers embody His love through their selfless devotion and guidance.

Mother’s Day provides an opportunity for us to express gratitude to our mothers and wives for their unwavering support and prayers, acknowledging the invaluable role they play in shaping the faith and character of our children. It is a time to honour not only biological mothers but also spiritual mothers, mentors, and caregivers who impart wisdom and faith. Ultimately, Mother’s Day serves as a reminder of the profound impact mothers have in shaping families and communities, reflecting the divine love that binds us all together.

A big and sincere “thank you” to every mother (biological and spiritual) in our assemblies and communities. May God richly bless you. Thank you for who you are and for all that you do.

Usuku lomama:
Usuku lomama, olugujwa minyaka yonke (ngeSonto, 12 May 2024), linokubaluleka okujulile ngokombono wobuKristu njengesikhathi sokuhlonipha nokwazisa uthando lokuzidela kanye nomoya wokukhulisa komama.

KuzAga 31:25-31 , iBhayibheli litusa izibonelo ezinhle zowesifazane owesaba uNkulunkulu, liqhakambisa amandla akhe, ukuhlakanipha nomusa. Omama babonakalisa isimo sikaNkulunkulu sokunakekela nokukhulisa, ovame ukuboniswa ngumama onakekela izingane zakhe ( Isaya 66:13 ). Njengoba nje uNkulunkulu ebabhekile ngomusa abantwana bakhe, omama babonisa uthando lwakhe ngokuzinikela kwabo nokuziqondisa izingane.

Usuku lomama lunikeza ithuba lokuthi sidlulise ukubonga nokubonisa inhlonipho komama bethu ngokuthando lwabo nangomoya abanawo ekusikhuliseni nasekusondleni njengomama bethu. Sibonga ngokuseseka kwabo okungantengantengi kanye nemithandazo. Sibonga iqhaza elibalulekile abalibambayo ekulolongeni ukholo nesimilo sezingane zethu. Yisikhathi sokuhlonipha hhayi omama abasizalayo kuphela kodwa nomama abangokomoya, abeluleki nabanakekeli abanikeza ukuhlakanipha nokholo. Ekugcineni, uSuku Lomama lusebenza njengesikhumbuzo somthelela ojulile ovela komama ekubumbeni imindeni nemiphakathi, okubonisa uthando lwaphezulu olusihlanganisa sonke ndawonye.

“Ngiyabonga kakhulu” kubobonke omama (abasizalayo nalabo abasizala nokukaMoya) abasemabandleni ethus nasemiphakathini yethu. Kwangathi uNkulunkulu anganibusisa ngokucebile. Siyabonga ngakhokonke eniyiko nangalokho enikwenzayo.
