Dear AFM Colleagues,
1. REFLECTIONS ON THE 25TH PENTECOSTAL WORLD FELLOWSHIP CONFERENCE (PWF)
Pastors, Bishops and Members from various Pentecostal churches and movements convened at the Telus Convention Centre in Calgary (Canada) under the theme “Spirit Now.” The Conference was held on 27-30 August 2019. Among the special Guests to the Conference was the General Secretary of the World Council of Churches, Rev. Dr Olav Fykse Tveit and the Secretary of the Global Christian Forum, Rev. Dr Casely Essamuah.
There was a sense of expectation for spiritual renewal from those who attended.
The PWF’s Advisory Committee elected Dr Billy Wilson (President of Oral University – Oklahoma) as the new Chairperson to succeed Rev. Dr Prince Guneratnum. Rev. Dr David Wells (The General Superintendent of the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada) was re-elected as Vice-Chairman and Dr Doug Beacham (Presiding Bishop of the International Pentecostal Holiness Church – Oklahoma) was elected as Secretary of the Fellowship. The AFM of SA’s President (MG Mahlobo) was elected a member of the PWF. Rev. Dr Prince Guneratnum was granted PWF Committee’s honorary membership status. In this respect he joins Dr Yonngi Cho (Korea) and Dr Jack Hayford (USA) who are serving as Honorary Committee Members.
The Conference concluded with Global prayers where specific continents were prayed for. One of the main objectives of PWF is to unite and mobilize Global Spirit-filled family for the completion of the Great Commission of Jesus Christ. The recurring sub-themes were spiritual renewal, missions and unity. There were eleven Affinity (Break-away) Groups which dealt with a variety of issues. Delegates were exposed to numerous resources through the exhibition stalls in the foyer of the Conference venue.
I would like to express my thanks and appreciation to all AFM leaders, Pastors and Members who attended the Conference.
2. LESS THAN TWO WEEKS TO THE AFM NATIONAL CONFERENCE
May we be grounded in Christ. May we be able to demonstrate fortitude and resilience in times of challenges. “…rooted and built up in Him…” as in Colossians 2: 6-7. Join us in Cape Town for the AFM National Conference as we reflect on the importance of being ROOTED IN CHRIST. Members and Pastors are invited to attend!
