Newsflash 4 SEPT ENG

Fellow-Colleague,

1. AFM WELFARE: R1 PER MONTH PER WILLING AFM MEMBER

I would like to remind you of the AFM Welfare’s humble request for a R1 per month gift from willing AFM members. In the last Circular, a letter from the Welfare was included where a toolkit was promised: https://afm-ags.org/newsflash-friday-21-august-2020-resources/.

This toolkit is now available for download and include multiple communication tools to engage AFM members on the request. The toolkit includes: (i) a PDF-document with all the information, (ii) a promotional flyer, (iii) a Power Point Presentation, (iv) a Facebook Banner and (v) an E-mail Signature Banner. I encourage you to make use of these tools to raise awareness of the Welfare’s request: https://afm-ags.org/category/media/

2. ANTI-CORRUPTION CAMPAIGN: CHURCHES

The National Leaders of the South African Council of Churches (SACC) launched the Church Anti-Corruption Campaign on 30 August 2020. This launch was preceded by the SACC media statement issued on 7 August 2020: https://afm-ags.org/category/media/.

The statement called on us to make a pledge on building an ethical state, transparency and accountability. September-month was declared by the churches as “free-of-corruption-month”. As part of activities aimed at shining light on corruption there will be a silent protest by church leaders on 15 September 2020. It is planned to take place provincially and in our national capitals. The AFM has already appointed AFM leaders who will participate.

My request is, that where possible, we should make an AFM Anti-Corruption poster visible in our church buildings and on our social media on 15 September 2020. The poster can be downloaded from

https://afm-ags.org/category/media/. The AFM of SA is calling on Government to bring a STOP to corruption in our country. Please make sure that you watch my video message in this regard:

3. ATTACKS ON AND MURDERS OF WOMEN AND FARMERS

I invite fellow pastors and leaders of the AFM to condemn the spike in attacks and murders of women and farmers in our country. I call upon our Government and Law Enforcement Agencies to prioritise these crimes and take swift action to bring perpetrators to justice. Our condolences are extended to all families who have become bereaved because of these heinous crimes.

Blessings!

MG Mahlobo
