AFM 23 OCT ENG NEWSFLASH

AFM Fellow-Colleague,

1. RENEWAL OF PASTORAL STATUS – URGENT

According to the AFM Constitution, (Appendix 7.6 point 2.3.1 and 2.3.2) Pastors who have not renewed their pastoral status by 31 December 2020, would be “considered delinquent, however a grace period of 31 days shall apply.” – That implies that Pastors who have not renewed their status by 31 January 2021, “shall be considered to have lost their status” and in order to regain pastoral status they would have to apply for re-instatement.

My concern is that if we are to have a GBM (General Business Meeting) in February/March 2021, pastors who have not renewed their status, would not be able to register or vote at the GBM.

There might also be logistical challenges if Pastors wait with their status renewal until January 2021, as it will leave very little time for the administration to process the application in time for the GBM. (Kindly take note that the AFM National Office closes on 11 December 2020). Pastors should therefore apply for renewal as soon as possible or run the risk that they might not be able to register for the GBM.

Pastors who have not yet renewed their status should urgently contact their Regional Secretary / Administrator.

Dr. Henri Weideman
