AFM Colleagues,
You may be aware that the SALRC (South African Law Reform Commission) has produced a discussion paper with a view to bringing all Acts regulating marriages in South Africa into one law (Project 144 – Discussion Paper 152). For reference purposes, I am including a link to the relevant SALRC Media Statement (January 2021) here:
https://afm-ags.org/category/media/
Discussion Paper 152 is available on the Internet from the following site:
https://www.justice.gov.za/salrc/dpapers.htm
I have also included the submission made by the AFM of SA leadership on this matter, for your information:
https://afm-ags.org/category/media/
In May, we plan to participate in the SALRC virtual workshops. Your prayers for this process are solicited.
The AFM DEL (Doctrine, Ethics and Liturgy) Committee hereby request AFM Pastors to answer a short (3 questions) survey regarding the importance of the baptism in the Holy Spirit for Pentecostal believers in the AFM of SA:
https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/8TCZNZN
Background Information:
The AFM is known as a Pentecostal church and part of the worldwide Pentecostal Movement. Worldwide Pentecostals are revisiting what it means to be Pentecostal. This is related to how they view themselves as a church that was born in the power of the Holy Spirit. Part of that experience is the belief in the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. The AFM’s Confession of Faith (https://afm-ags.org/about-us/confessions-of-faith/) includes that we believe in the Baptism in the Holy Spirit with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.
Blessings!
