Dear AFM Colleague,
1. A WORD OF ENCOURAGEMENT
We are all aware that the President of the country declared a move from Alert Level 3 to Alert Level 2 of lockdown. Earlier this week I published a statement from my side on our Facebook page:
https://www.facebook.com/AFMOFSA/
It is encouraging to see that many South Africans are recovering from the virus. Our hearts still go out to all the families who have lost loved ones. I want to encourage you with a scripture from Ephesians 6:10 (NIV): “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.” It is comforting to know that our God gives us strength and that He is powerful. God will take us through this storm. On this subject I include a video devotion that you can watch here:
Earlier this week an important Circular was sent to all AFM Assemblies concerning:
- The nominees for the National Office Bearers elections.
- An approved proposed amendment to Regulation 7.4.4.
- The minimum credits for PCD for 2020.
- The importance of complying with Covid-19 protocol (especially at funerals).
- A letter from the AFM Welfare for your kind consideration.
All the above documentation is available for download from the following link on our website:

The Covid-19 environment is a very present threat, yet it offers unique mission opportunities to serve the hurting and grieving. Health workers are traumatized, anxious and depressed. They are often separated from their normal communities of faith due to restrictions on the number of people who can gather to worship.
We have received a request from The Evangelical Alliance of South Africa to support health workers in our communities. To read more about specific actions that can be taken, download this letter from the following link:

The Deaf are in desperate need of assistance in all spheres of life. The average request rate for assistance to the Deaf over the last few years were 3 requests daily. It has now increased to an average of 16 per day. In the following blog-article, Past. Dirk Venter tells us more about how Covid-19 is affecting the Deaf community:

Deaf Friendly is a specialised AFM Ministry and widely known to assist the Deaf. Please inform Deaf Friendly of any Deaf in distress so that we can follow up with as much assistance as we possibly can:
Blessings!
