Dear Colleague,
The month of May is a powerful and dynamic month on our Church calendar! At the moment we have a lot of information and content that is circulating internally through the Church and on our social media platforms – such as Facebook, Instagram and YouTube. I would like to use this opportunity to make sure that you are aware of and connected to the content that is available.
In this Newsflash, I will therefore not include any new information, but rather show you what is currently important to know about:
AFM Legacy Leadership Program (2023-2024)
On Thursday, 11 May we invited AFM Members (who meet the application criteria) to apply for the AFM Legacy Leadership Program. The invitation was shared on our Facebook-page and Instagram-account with a link to a self-explanatory brochure:

NOB Empowerment Visits
I would like to thank every person that was involved with the planning and running of this year’s NOB Empowerment Visits. It was truly blessed- and meaningful time spent with our pastors, governing body members, leaders and members of the church in the various provinces of the country.
If you missed a presentation or would like to watch any of the presentations again – you are welcome to go to our YouTube channel where all the presentations are now uploaded and available:
If you attended any of the NOB Empowerment Visits, I also want to ask you to consider sharing your feedback and suggestions with us. We value your input and include useful suggestions in next year’s planning. The short survey will only take 5 minutes of your time:

Week of Pentecost: 19-28 May
Pentecost and the celebration thereof, are central to who we are as the AFM. During Pentecost, we celebrate the birth of the Church and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. This is the only one of the great Christian events (the birth of Jesus, His death and resurrection and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit) that continues today. The empowerment of the Holy Spirit is ongoing in our lives as believers.
Today I share a video message to mark the start of the Week of Pentecost:
I will also share a short sermon on Pentecost Sunday (28 May) that will be shared on our social media platforms.
The Church’s 115th Birthday Anniversary: 25 May
This year we are celebrating the 115th birthday of the Apostolic Faith Mission (AFM) of South Africa. We will again celebrate it as an AFM Logo Day. However, this time we are adding a challenge to all our members to share their faith in Jesus Christ with at least one other person.
In his video message, Past. Barend Petersen announced and explained the two actions we will be engaging in as a church on Thursday, 25 May – Share the Logo and Share Christ with one other person:
“The Bridge Illustration” is a practical tool that AFM Members can use to help them to share their faith with another person. The National Office Bearers have 5 video clips that equip AFM Members with a simple drawing and scriptures that they can memorise. You have access to all the video clips on our YouTube channel.
We also thought it would add value to have a Pocket Guide of “The Bridge Illustration” available – a quick and short reference. The Pocket Guide can be downloaded from the AFM Website in a PDF format or as PNGs (to share over WhatsApp easily):

Men’s Fellowship Conference: 19-21 May
Today marks the start of the Men’s Fellowship Conference at Abbortsford Christian Centre in East London. I ask that we pray for every man that will be ministered to this weekend. The theme is: “Men after God’s own heart.” We trust that through this conference the hearts of the men will be touched, and their minds renewed. We thank God for this conference!
Child Protection Week: 28 May – 4 June
We are going to shed light on important issues relating to Child Protection in South Africa and the role of the Church. Together, and with the assistance of our Welfare Department (AFM Welfare) we are planning to release relevant and powerful content on the subject. Make sure you are connected to our social media to follow us during Child Protection Week.
Warm Regards
Henri Weideman
