Fellow AFM Colleague,
January is usually a month of special focus on prayer and fasting for many Christians, as has also been the practice in the AFM of SA for several years. We have a lot to pray and fast about this year. The Covid-19 pandemic is taking a toll in the lives of many people across the world, here in our own country and even amongst the families of our members and pastors.
Over and above the sickness and death of colleagues and loved ones, we must also deal with the impact of the measures intended to curb the spread of the virus, on the economy and our livelihoods. This has caused a lot of heartache and suffering to many of us, to the point of great despair for some.
As believers and people of faith, we cannot look us around in confusion and we should not be without Hope. We have God’s presence with us, and we have His Word and the Holy Spirit to direct us and guide us.
In Ephesians 6:13 (NIV) Paul encourages us to “…Put on the full armour of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to (still) stand.”
The elements of this armour are: Truth (Belt), Righteousness (Breastplate), Readiness to share the Gospel (Shoes), Faith (Shield), Salvation (Helmet), the Word of God (Sword of the Spirit) and Prayer in the Spirit “on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests.”
This full armour is definitely needed in the life of every believer during every day of what we currently experience. Let us continuously pray for God’s Grace and Healing for those who are sick, and for our economy, as well as for the comfort and guidance of the Holy Spirit in all our lives.
There is currently a lot of uncertainty about the possible vaccines available to fight the Covid-19 pandemic. Many people are anxious, confused and fearful, mainly due to several conspiracy theories that are circulated by people who are neither qualified Scientists nor Theologians. Considering the seriousness of these allegations and the requests from many pastors and members, the National Office Bearers want to give some guidance in this matter.
