Dear AFM Colleague,
I invite you to read 1 Peter 5: 7 (ESV) with me: “…casting all your anxieties on Him, because He cares for you”. All of us go through moments of anxiety – a feeling of worry, nervousness, or unease about something with an uncertain outcome. Let us be reminded that we can trust God with all the anxieties and stresses that we might be facing today.
Jesus also talked about this in Matthew 6: 34 (ESV) where He reminds us not to be anxious about the day of tomorrow, because it will bring its own anxieties. Instead, we can cast all of our worries and anxieties on God, because our Father cares for us. I want to encourage you to approach God when you feel your situation is unbearable. Let us be confident in our faith knowing that GOD cares for us – we can trust Him.
Earlier this week I shared this word of encouragement in a video devotional that was posted on all the AFM’s social media platforms – I share it here again for our Pastors:
2. PASTORAL CARE FOR THE BEREAVED FAMILIES OF PASTORS
I have been requested by the National Office Bearers (NOB) of the AFM to make a proposal on how the church can demonstrate care to the families of Pastors who passed on. There are instances in which no care is offered by our church structures when their Pastors pass on. This leaves the bereaved family with a negative perception of the caring aspect of our church.
When a Pastor dies, his/her family goes through a period of loss, grief, mourning and bereavement which may be traumatic. This is equally so when a Pastor’s spouse passes on.
I am currently working on a document in this regard which must still be considered by the NOB. I would like to receive your input on the role that should be played by the Local Assembly, Regional Committee and National Leadership Forum when it comes to offering condolences, the funeral program and post-funeral care to the bereaved family. I would also appreciate any other input that does not necessarily fall within the areas I mentioned above. Send an e-mail with your input to mmahlobo@afm-ags.org.
The tentative GBM date of 14-18 March 2021 will not materialise. Specific dates cannot be confirmed at this stage but will be communicated as soon as possible and depends on Covid-19 developments.
Delegates are however welcome to register. The venue remains AFM Word and Life Church in Boksburg. Registration for the event (although a specific date can not be confirmed at this stage) can be done online:
