3.  SPESIALE VERSOEK

Many church leaders are struggling to passionately persevere in ministry.”

Dankie by voorbaat vir jou hulp.

1.  UNITED PRAYER FOR SOUTH AFRICA: 22-24 FEBRUARY 2019

Dear Colleagues,

Next year will be the 4th consecutive year that we gather as Christians all across South Africa to cover our nation in prayer. In 2018 there were more than 250 prayer points where many local communities united in prayer over the same weekend! Up4SA (United Prayer for South Africa) is a nationwide Prayer initiative on grassroots level. (Grassroots CommUNITY Prayer – Across race and denomination).

As ambassadors of our Lord Jesus we can play a huge roll in unifying our communities! I would like to encourage and challenge you again to take hands with the “Up4SA 2019” team, as we unite in prayer for South Africa! We all acknowledge that 2019 is a very significant year for us as a nation, as it is South Africa’s general election year.

I ask all our pastors and community leaders to prayerfully consider volunteering and co-ordinating a prayer point in your local community. Every community leader that volunteers will receive a resource pack and will be empowered to coordinate the prayer point.

3.  SPECIAL REQUEST

One of our Pastors, Romien Joubert is currently busy with studies on the well being of South African Church Leaders which remains a cause for concern: “Many church leaders are struggling to passionately persevere in ministry.”

The theoretical argument of her study is that resilience and the intentional and holistic cultivation thereof, could add immense value in offering a solution. Please assist her by completing a questionnaire focused on exploring church leaders’ understanding of resilience, their current attempts to build it into their lives, and their current resilience levels. Your participation and contribution is crucial and highly valued. Thank you in advance for your time.

1.  VERENIGDE GEBED VIR SUID-AFRIKA: 22-24 FEBRUARIE 2019

Liewe Kollegas,

In 2018 was daar meer as 250 gebedspunte waar menige plaaslike gemeenskappe verenig is in gebed gedurende dieselfde naweek.  Up4SA (“United Prayer for South Africa”) is ‘n landswye gebeds-inisiatief op “grassroots” vlak.

THE AFM IN ZIMBABWE

Our brothers and sisters in the AFM in Zimbabwe are currently going through a painful experience with a potential of the church splitting. As you may be aware the leadership of the AFM International is continuing with its intervention. In its intervention report a plea was made to all parties and groups to avoid any action that may lead to the splitting of the church. This has not yet happened. There are national church elections planned for this coming Saturday, 3rd November 2018. During these elections the national Office Bearers will be elected. This will take place when the other group, under the leadership of the current Deputy President, claim to have already elected the national Church leaders. Both groups are using the same constitution and the same name.  I am asking that we pray for God’s intervention. Let us pray for an amicable resolution of all differences with a view of them becoming a united church again.

PASSING ON OF EUGENE PETERSON

Eugene Peterson, the Presbyterian pastor who authored 35 books amongst which is the Message Bible, passed on at the age of 85, a week after his admission into a hospice care for complications related to heart failure. He retired from pastoring in 1991 and became a Professor at Regent College in Vancouver, British Columbia. Among his final words were: “Let’s go.” Let’s keep his bereaved family in our prayers.

EUGENE PETERSON IS OORLEDE

Van sy laaste woorde was: “Let’s go.”

 5 OCT ENG 2018

Dear Colleague,

1.   APPRECIATION TO PASTORS AND THEIR FAMILIES

The month of October is known as Pastors Appreciation Month. It is a special time that has been set aside for the AFM of SA congregations and other statutory bodies to honor their pastors or assembly leaders as well as their spouses and children. Our appreciation is for their hard and sacrificial work and multiple blessings that they provide.

Allow me to take this time to express my deepest appreciation to all AFM pastors, assembly leaders, their spouses and children for what you are doing for both the Apostolic Faith Mission of South Africa and God’s Kingdom. Our Chief Shepherd and our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, has entrusted upon you one of the most delicate and most precious of assignments –  the spiritual well-being of His flock. Many of you are serving in ministry under incredible pressures mostly created by unrealistic expectations. You are expected to have ideal families, to be perfect people, to always be available, to never be down and to have all the answers that your members need to keep their lives stable and moving forward.

The same can be said with regard to those who serve on a full-time basis in the AFM in other structures beyond the congregation. In this case I am specifically referring to those that are serving the church at Regional and National structures. You fulfill these responsibilities in addition to other work that you do. Most of you fulfill this added role without any renumeration.

My prayer for you and your family is similar to the one John prayed for Gaius who was given a hard time by Diotrephes:

“Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well”  3 John 1:2 (NIV).

2.   PCD WORKSHOPS AT THE 2018 GBM

Pastors who attended the PCD Workshops at the recent General Business Meeting (GBM) received stickers for the workshops that they participated in. These stickers must be pasted in your PCD log-sheets. In this way you will be able to receive the credits. If you didn’t receive these stickers or maybe you lost them, you are welcome to contact the National PCD Co-ordinator, Dr Henri Weideman during Office Hours at 012 644 0490. I trust that these workshops added value to all who attended.

3.   THE 25TH PENTECOSTAL WORLD CONFERENCE CALGARY 2019

Liewe Kollega,

“Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well” 3 John 1:2 (NIV).

2.   PCD WERKSWINKELS – GBM 2018

3.   DIE 25STE PINKSTER WêRELD KONFERENSIE CALGARY 2019

 7 SEPTEMBER

Dear Colleague,

1.  SOUTH AFRICAN POLICE COMMEMORATION DAY

On Sunday, the 2nd of September 2018, the South African Police Service (SAPS) hosted its annual Commemoration Day ceremony in honor of 29 members who lost their lives in the line of duty between 01 April 2017 to 31 March 2018. The names of the 29 officers who died in the line of duty were added to the wall of remembrance.

During the ceremony, families, friends and colleagues of the deceased members and the leadership of the Department of Police laid wreaths as they paid their respects to the fallen heroes and heroines. I am requesting that we remember the bereaved families in our prayers, especially this coming Sunday. Where possible let us accompany them in this journey of bereavement with healing messages of hope. I call upon our pastors and members to work with the police in fighting the scourge of crime including police killings. Police members are a national asset and they need to be protected by all of us. One police killing is one too many.

Blessings!
MG Mahlobo

2.  DEALING WITH STRESSFULL TIMES, REALIZING THE SANCTITY OF YOUR LIFE
Stress is part of our everyday life. We need to acknowledge that to ourselves and to our children. Denial is not helpful.  As Spiritual leaders in our churches and communities, we need to create an openness for our members, young and old, as well as our children to talk about the stressful times in their lives and receive guidance on how to handle it.

I am saying this in the light of the fact that we are entering one of those stressful times again, as we do every year – when students at tertiary institutions and leaners at school prepare for exams. During this time many of our young people feel stressed, they are worried that they are not adequately prepared and will not pass the exams.  Some do not know how to handle these feelings and thoughts. They might feel that they are not “allowed” to express their concerns and worries, because it will show that they do not have enough faith.

The fact is: Most of us will at certain seasons in our lives, face times that are extra stressful and can shake us to our core. You can experience stress when you worry about things like your job, money, relationships, or a friend or family member who is ill or going through a difficult time. At those times, having strong coping strategies can make a big difference. During stressful times (always actually) it is important to look after your physical health, to get support, tackle your challenges and strengthen your Spiritual life.

I would like to encourage you by sharing a few key guidelines contained in the document below:

 Stressful Times in Difficult Situations

I trust that his might be helpful to us as Pastors ant those that we are leading and ministering to.
