Dear Colleague,
1. PASSOVER WEEKEND
We are looking forward to a blessed weekend in the church. We have prepared three video messages that will be released on Good Friday, Resurrection Sunday and Family Day. Allow me to provide a brief introduction to each of these messages:
Good Friday
The last words of many well-known people are written down and quoted from time to time. None of these can be as memorable and powerful as the seven phrases recorded as the last words of Jesus on the cross. He uttered words of trust, clarity and direction, directed at His followers standing around the cross, but also for us today. This year on Good Friday we will discuss four of these phrases, as we look back with thankful hearts to the complete work of Jesus on the cross.
Resurrection Sunday
The bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ is a basic affirmation of our faith as Christians: We believe that Jesus was born of Mary, that He died on the Cross and arose from the grave, and that He ascended into Heaven, from where He will come again.
The message of His resurrection amounts to a clear signal from our Heavenly Father that Jesus is the powerful Son of God who has conquered death, reigns as Lord of all – and completed what was needed for our justification. Romans 4:25 (NLT) teaches us that: “He was handed over to die because of our sins, and he was raised to life to make us right with God.” Let us celebrate not only the memory but also the reality of this on Resurrection Sunday.
Family Day
In the context of full schedules, a surplus of activities, many deadlines and business in general, the importance of families and family life cannot be overstated. Healthy family bonds need to be strengthened and nurtured. This can only happen when we intentionally pray for each other and spend quality and quantity time together. All of us should also endeavour to do this on Family Day 2023. Thank you Past. Rudi Coertzen for preparing this video message.
