From Compassion to Action

UKUSUKA EKUZWELANENI UKUYA EKWENZENI

I encourage all our Pastors and Assemblies to take an active part in this year’s AFM Welfare Weekend. Our theme, “Compassion in Action,” reminds us that caring for people is not just something we talk about - it is something we must practically live out. It is easy to speak about the needs in our communities, and even easier to pray for those who are struggling. Prayer is important, but Jesus calls us to go further. He calls us to open our eyes, see the real needs around us, and respond in practical, meaningful ways.

Many people in our local communities face hunger, loneliness, unemployment, or hopelessness. As the Church, we cannot just look past these situations. This Welfare Weekend gives us a chance to show the heart of Christ in a real and visible way. Let us take time to find out what the actual needs are in our respective local areas - by listening, observing, and talking to people. Then let us step out, serving with kindness, generosity, and love.

When compassion moves from words to action, lives are changed, communities are strengthened and transformed, and God is glorified. Let us make this year’s Welfare Weekend a true expression of Christ’s love in action.

Kulula ukukhuluma ngezidingo emiphakathini yethu, futhi kulula ngisho nokuthandazela labo abadonsa kanzima. Umthandazo ubalulekile, kodwa uJesu ufuna ukuba siqhubekele phambili. Ufuna ukuthi sivule amehlo ethu, sibone izidingo zangempela ezisizungezile, futhi sisabele ngezindlela eziphathekayo nezinokuthile ezikushiya ezingqondweni zabantu.

Abantu abaningi emiphakathini yethu babhekene nendlala, isizungu, ukuntula imisebenzi, nokuphelelwa ithemba. Njengebandla, kasikwazi ukuvele singazinaki lezi zimo. Lempelasonto Yezenhlalakahle isinika ithuba lokubonisa inhliziyo kaKristu ngendlela yangempela nebonakalayo. Masizinike isikhathi sokuthola ukuthi yiziphi izidingo zangempela ezindaweni zakithi—ngokulalela, ukubheka, nokukhuluma nabantu. Khona-ke masiphume, senze inkonzo yomusa, yokuphana, neyothando. Uma uzwelo lusuka ekukhulumeni luye ekwenzeni, izimpilo ziyaguqulwa, imiphakathi iyaqina futhi nayo iguqulwe, futhi uNkulunkuluuyakhazinyuliswa.
