PENTECOST WEEK: LIVING THE PENTECOST LIFE
This weekend marks the start of Pentecost Week and the build-up to Pentecost Sunday — not just as a historical event, but as the birth of the Christian Church and the beginning of our mission as believers. Found in Acts 2, Pentecost marks the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, empowering the first disciples to carry on Jesus' work. This was the fulfilment of His promise in Acts 1:8, that they would receive power to be His witnesses to the ends of the earth. That same promise and power are still available to us today.
Pentecost is also a powerful reminder of unity. On that day, people from many nations and cultures were brought together by the Holy Spirit. Today, the Spirit continues to break down barriers of race, background, and culture, uniting us in Christ. As Paul urges in Ephesians 4:3, we are to maintain this unity through the bond of peace, loving and serving one another across our differences.
More than a church service or celebration, Pentecost is a call to live Spirit-empowered lives every day. We are called to reflect Christ's character, His love, humility, and kindness in our homes, communities, and workplaces. It is not only about what we believe, but how we live. May we be faithful witnesses, showing the world who Jesus is through our actions, and living lives that bring glory to God through the power of the Holy Spirit.
