12 JULY ENG 2019

AFM Colleagues,

1.  SPECIAL REQUEST: AFM NATIONAL CONFERENCE 2019

We are looking forward to welcoming the AFM Family at our annual National Conference that is taking place in September. We would like to see that all our members and assemblies know about the conference. We believe that this year’s theme “Rooted in Christ” is a vital message for the missional church going forward.

For this purpose we have developed special marketing material that our pastors can use during services. It includes the following:

  • A 3:00 min Promotional Video Clip.
  • A Facebook Cover Photo.
  • Two Power Point Slides.
  • A Poster.
We are also excited to release Afrikaans and Xhosa versions of all the above mentioned marketing material. These versions will be made available exactly one week from now, on Friday, the 19th of July.

I want to encourage you to download and make use of the English resources:

2.  CONFERENCE FEEDBACK: AFM NATIONAL DEPARTMENT CONFERENCES

National Youth Department Conference – East London

The NYD conference took place in East London on 21-23 June 2019. The conference attendance was 3,500, mainly young people. The theme for the conference was: “The Holy Spirit Impact.” At the conference it was announced that the 2020 NYD conference will be held in Kimberly in the Northern Cape. Information in this regard will be made available in due course. Let us continue to support our youth to attend!

National Sisters’ Fellowship (NSF) Conference – Cape Town

The NSF conference took place on 5-7 July 2019 in Cape Town. A total of 9,073 people, mostly women, registered for this conference. The Chairperson of the NSF, Mrs. M.J. Mahlobo in her welcome address, stated some of the NSF objectives as follows:

  • To take care of the needy,
  • To collect funds and goods for the NSF objectives and
  • To facilitate a Christ-centered character.
The Conference theme was: “Remaining strong in the face of storms.” The conference speakers motivated attendees to remain strong and resilient in the face of the storms of life. In this way they will display a “Christ-centered character.”

One of the highlights of the conference was in the area of taking care of the needy. The conference donated R20,000-00 to the Garankuwa Sunrise Hospice. The conference also donated school uniforms to 40 pupils from Vuselela Primary School in Khayelitsha (Cape Town). The uniform packages included 40 shoes, 40 socks, 40 raincoats, 40 track suits, 40 jerseys; 20 tunics (for girls) and 20 ties (for boys). In this way the NSF demonstrated their involvement in meeting community needs which is one of the five Game Plan Drivers.

I would like to congratulate both the NYD and the NSF Committees for convening and running such  successful conferences.
