THE AFM SALUTES CONSTITUTIONAL COURT VERDICT
The unanimous judgment of the Constitutional Court that clearly defined the constitutional powers and privileges of the Public Protector can only be described as a welcomed ray of light in a democracy threatened by the abuse of power by a president who has betrayed an entire nation for selfish gain.
The relentless incidents of corruption, fraud and deception and the unscrupulous undermining of the very institutions of democracy that protect the interests of the people have finally been exposed.
The Apostolic Faith Mission of SA (AFM), representing 1.5 million South Africans of all race groups, have made several attempts over the past few years to secure an appointment with the President in order to share our concerns with him. Our request was acknowledged but without success.
After the AFM’s attempts to engage in dialogue with President Zuma were repeatedly ignored, we released several media statements and open letters to address our growing concerns with the actions of the president and the ruling party, especially in regard to the Nkandla matter.
The AFM is grateful for the recent turn of events despite suffering the national humiliation of being exploited by political leaders who have sworn to uphold the constitution and provide moral guidance to the nation.
The ConCourt judgment was the unavoidable consequence of blatant and persistent corruption. However, as the Church we must acknowledge the hand of God in the recent turn of events. Christian communities convened numerous prayer-initiatives across the country to request God’s intervention in the nation. We believe God is the Sovereign Lord of all the nations of the earth and that He hears the cries of His people. While He doesn't need our counsel and advice, He faithfully answers the prayers of those who acknowledge His truth.
The AFM of SA continues to pray that South Africa will be blessed with a government that acknowledges its divine responsibility to lead the nation with wisdom and integrity so that South Africa can fulfill its God-given destiny.
